time flies!

Well, i'm stupidly pulling an all nighter before i journey back to where i came from.
i'm going to miss this place i now call home. i have family here now. mi familia chapina.
i love everybody here so much.

today i had to say goodbye to centro de alcance. it was so hard. they threw me a little going away party and i of course cried like a baby. i love those kids. so loving and wonderful.

currently i'm having a 'pajama party' which i havent had in years. all my best girlfriends are over and well, they told me were not sleeping, but at the moment i'm the only one still wide awake. how ironic - i'm going to be the one travelling for approx. 20 hours maƱana. hah!

i know it's going to be hard to leave this place after feeling like my heart is here , in this community, with these people. it's comforting to know that i'm so welcome back here. I can definitley see myself here one day - but we'll see what God has in store.

anyways, this is my last post from guatemala. I'm sure more will be coming soon.

con amor :

Touristy Travels.

I'm sorry - I'm being lazy with my blogging, once again!

My time is dwindling down and I'm now trying to prepare for my sad departure. Taking many photos and soaking up as much time as I can. I although, was blessed by being able to fly up to Tikal National Park on Monday. Tikal was amazing, if you ever get the chance - GO THERE! There are a ton ( literally ) of Mayan Ruins, wildlife (including many monkeys, jaguars, and various tropical birds )  I was lucky enough to have my own tour guide - who spoke English. The ruins were so interesting I could have spent much more time there. My four hours were not nearly enough. Fun fact : it's not 'fun' to put on sunscreen on an incredibly sweaty body. ( It was so hot and humid in Tikal I thought I was going to melt ) Overall, it was an incredibly long day, but I am so glad I went. It was well worth it.

Tikal Ruins. Beautiful!
I forgot to mention that on Sunday I went to Antigua with a few friends. One of whom had never been to Antigua, even after living here in Guatemala for 10 years. It was a must that she went and I felt so lucky to see her enjoying herself - hanging out with friends, fooling around and seeing an absolutely beautiful city. It definitely was a highlight of my month!

It's crazy to think that at this exact time last year I was just graduating high school. For me that is crazy! Feels like such a long time ago - I'm so glad I'm here in Guatemala, I wouldn't change it for the world!
I love taking photos with Barbara. She is such a little ham and loves photos. Such a sweetie!

Martita, and Treasures.

This is Martita. She just got new shoes!

She's a beautiful little girl and has an amazing story.  It's always wonderful to see her smiling while coloring or hanging out at Centro de Alcance.

This is just a treasure I found while going through pictures.
(Way better quality if you click on the photo)
Anyways, just a few photos to whet your appetite! hah. I'll update soon. =)
